H.M.S. Weazel 1720-1799
H.M.S. Weazel ran aground on the night of 11 February 1799 along with all of her crew 106 men near Baggy Point


H.M.S.Weazel was a 14 gun sloop o’ war which was caught out in a ferocious north westerly gale. She tried to claw off the coast and sent up repeated distress signals. It was all to no avail, and she broke up completely near Baggy Point taking all 106 of her crew to the bottom with her.
Below is one of the cannons from the Weazel which was raised by a group of local divers in 1968. It is now displayed outside Mortehoe Museum
